Community Well-Being Strategist
Issurah King is the Founder of Ikaika Wellness and a Community Well-Being Strategist dedicated to advancing generational health through culturally grounded systems, immersive experiences, and community-centered initiatives.
With more than a decade of experience across healthcare, public health systems, case management, and behavioral coaching, Issurah designs strategies that strengthen families, build community capacity, and align institutional programs with measurable, sustainable impact.
She holds a B.S. in Applied Health Science from Wheaton College and completed post-baccalaureate studies at Washington University in St. Louis. Her professional training includes certification as a National Board Certified Health & Wellness Coach (NBHWC), Precision Nutrition Level 1, Girls Gone Strong, and the Open Source Wellness “Community as Medicine” program.
Issurah’s career spans direct service, healthcare navigation, grant-supported public health initiatives, and cross-sector coordination. She has utilized motivational interviewing in case management settings to support individuals navigating complex life transitions and has coached patients in clinical environments managing weight and glucose regulation. Her experience also includes contributing to collaborative public health efforts focused on sustainable behavior change, community engagement, and infrastructure development.
Over time, her work expanded beyond individual behavior change to address a broader systems-level question: How can wellness become embedded within family culture and community infrastructure?
Through Ikaika Wellness, Issurah now partners with organizations to design or realign community health systems, develop measurable impact frameworks, and strengthen trust between families and service providers. She also curates domestic and international retreats centered on generational wellness, cultural grounding, and global perspective — integrating behavioral science with experiential learning.
Her approach blends trauma-informed practice, cultural integration, structured implementation, and accountability-driven strategy to ensure that transformation is sustained — not momentary.
Issurah believes that when caregivers are supported, families stabilize; when families stabilize, communities strengthen. Her work is dedicated to building that ripple effect — from households to institutions.
Outside of her professional endeavors, she finds restoration in nature, travel, and reflective study, and remains deeply inspired by motherhood and its profound influence on generational impact.
